The San Diego Chargers' fourth season was in 1963, and it was the fourth season Sid Gillman served as the head coach of the team. The Chargers played their home games at Balboa Stadium. They finished the year 11-3-0 in the regular season and 1-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the AFL championship against the Boston Patriots 51-10, the team's first championship win. At the end of the season, Tobin Rote was awarded with the AP AFL Player of the Year award.
