The Indianapolis Colts' thirty-third season was in 1985, playing their home games at Hoosier Dome. During the offseason they hired Rod Dowhower to lead the team. Dowhower previously was the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Cardinals and had six years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 5-11-0, 4-4-0 at home and 1-7-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Duane Bickett was awarded with the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
