The Houston Texans' fifth season was in 2006, playing their home games at Reliant Stadium. During the offseason they hired Gary Kubiak to lead the team. Kubiak previously was the offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos and had twelve years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 6-10-0, 4-4-0 at home and 2-6-0 on the road. At the end of the season, DeMeco Ryans was awarded with the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
