New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys 3 to 19

Sunday, September 10, 2017, Week 1

The Dallas Cowboys opened their 2017 season at home against the New York Giants, looking to repeat as the NFC East champions. The Cowboys never trailed the low-scoring game, beating their division rivals 19-3 in a game that saw tight end Jason Witten set the record for most receiving yards for the Cowboys franchise, surpassing Michael Irvin’s 11,904 yards. While Witten posted the game’s only touchdown, Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey added four field goals to the scoreboard.

The Cowboys defense kept the Giants offense all game, limiting the Giants to only 233 yards of offense and intercepting a pass from Eli Manning for the only turnover of the game. While the defense dominated the Giants, second-year quarterback Dak Prescott had an efficient game, throwing for 268 yards and a touchdown.
